*Standing There Radio Profile 5.30pm TODAY

Standing There Productions' Rita Walsh, Stewart Thorn and Lorin Clarke are featured in a story on their artists' residency today on radio station Triple J at 5.30pm. The interview was recorded yesterday at Yvonne and Arthur Boyd's Bundanon property in New South Wales, where Standing There Productions is entering the final week of our residency. The interview was recorded in Arthur Boyd's studio, Standing There Productions' studios, and in the surrounding Australian bush.

You can stream Triple J's Hack programme here.
Or you can listen on the radio. In Melbourne on 107.5 FM. For other areas, go here and enter your postcode on the right hand side.

To hear the slightly ridiculous story behind the interview, go to the Standing There Production Diary.

** News From Bundanon

Standing There Productions is now entering the final week of our artists' residency at Yvonne and Arthur Boyd's Bundanon property on the Shoalhaven river in New South Wales. Yvonne and Arthur Boyd “gifted” this property to the Australian people in 1993 to protect and preserve it and to provide Australians with access to the beautiful grounds. Artists in residence are given working and living quarters, access to Arthur Boyd's studio, to the Boyd's residential estate, and the extensive Boyd art collection.

This is the Standing There Productions Compound (with kangaroos). Lorin and Stewart's studios are in the barn-like building in the foreground.

We have been working on several projects while at Bundanon, some of which were planned and some of which have germinated here. Stewart has been working on timelapse photography such as the video, below. Lorin has written some short video scripts, which we hope to put up on the website soon. Check the diary for updates.

In our final week here, we will be shooting some short videos and getting together to discuss where these projects will go next. The three of us, together, at the same time, in the same location. A Bundanon miracle.

*** Rita's USA Trip

Standing There producer Rita Walsh joined Lorin and Stewart at the Bundanon Artists' Residency on Sunday evening, at the end of the 2nd week of the residency, with one week left.

For those first two weeks, Rita was in the United States, where Hugo, the short film she produced last year with Thaumatrope Productions, screened at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Shortfest. Hugo was a huge success, winning the Grand Prize for Fantasy at Rhode Island, as well as an AWGIE award for writer Rachel Bowen back in Australia. It has also been selected for the Chicago International Children's Festival later this year. Rita met with producers and filmmakers from all over the world in New York, Palm Springs, Rhode Island and LA. She then flew to Melbourne and drove to Bundanon. After Bundanon she is moving to Sydney to continue her Producers' Attachment with producer Jan Chapman. Congratulations Rita and the Hugo team for an amazing US trip.

Lastly, just to prove we're in the middle of the Australian countryside, here is some timelapse photography of the wombat who lives outside out studio. For more of Stew's great timelapse videos and for photos and short videos about our time at Bundanon, go to the Diary page.

Greatness Thrust Upon Them launch party!

Launch Party

We're having a party! Greatness Thrust Upon Them is Standing There Productions' second ever comedy festival show. It opens in March. The Greatness Thrust Upon Them Launch Party is a show launch, an opportunity for a nice drink in our new venue (Trades Hall, Corner of Victoria and Lygon Streets in Carlton), and a chance for you to contribute to our public liability insurance AND the carbon neutralising of our show by contributing $5 at the door.

Highlights may include: DJs Alec M and Silent G, cast and crew, an optional short film screening, a brief but exciting auction, some fairly awesome loot (including a Crumpler bag called The Considerable Embarrassment, which bodes well), and the honour of having carbon neutralised a whole comedy festival show. Better still, the show itself is ABOUT the environment, so basically you'll be just like Al Gore (without the giant cherry picker, the pointy stick and the Nobel prize, but still with the large enthusiastic fan base).

Drinks at 7, ceremonies at 8, party after that. The flyer is attached.

Auditions & Casting

We have now held our final audition. More than 100 people generously gave us their time and auditioned in various sweltering, obscurely located rooms across Melbourne over the last two weeks. 100 people is a lot under any circumstances, but even more so when there are three roles in the show. So, casting was difficult but thanks to the quality of performers we met, it was loads of fun.

Julia Harari is playing the jellybean-wrangling Megan, Chris Buchanan is politics nerd Robin, and Miriam Glaser is Sam, who tolerates no shenanigans. Let the rehearsals begin.

Advance Ticket Sales

For those of you who are very organised, you can already pre-purchase your tickets to the show here.

In the next few weeks, check the website for any updates, and as always the Standing There Productions Diary will continue to inspire you to keep your day job.

See you at the benefit gig,

Standing There Productions
